No. You download it, open it, and you're up and running from a single screen — no complicated setup or endless menus. Everything you need is one tap away, so you're ready to go even at your very first event.
Usually 12-25 seconds, so no queues build up at the booth. Actual speed can vary with several factors — mainly your Internet connection speed and server traffic at the time of your event.
A few quick tricks make faces sharper and more recognisable: good soft light on the face (avoid backlight), a clean, simple background so subjects stand out, only the people who should be in the shot (no strangers in the frame), and set aside face-covering props like wigs or oversized glasses so the features stay visible.
Basic photo booth features (capture, frame overlay, printing) work offline. An Internet connection is only required for AI effect processing and QR code generation.
Background swap uses 1 credit, generative AI effects use 3, and pro mode — which makes any effect pro — uses 5. Credits are purchased separately from the licence, stay valid for up to 1 year after the licence expires (any new purchase — even a weekend — re-extends remaining credits to 1 year after the new expiry), and multiple packs can be stacked.
PartyBooth AI supports any webcam recognised by Windows — built-in or external USB. For best results we recommend an HD 1080p webcam or a DSLR via video capture. Direct support for Sony and Canon DSLR/mirrorless cameras is expanding: the 7-day free trial lets you verify your hardware at zero cost.

It drives real DSLR and mirrorless cameras and an external flash for image quality a tablet camera simply can't match, runs for hours without overheating, and handles professional photo printing reliably. It's the setup serious photographers choose for a permanent booth — power and stability over portability.
Absolutely. The operator loads a PNG file with the desired frame/overlay and the software automatically places each pose in the correct slots. Every event can have its own dedicated frame with logo, colours and custom graphics. Three optimised templates are included: two-pose strip, three-pose strip and single 10x15 cm print.
The software has built-in self-diagnosis tools that automatically resolve the most common issues. For more specific cases there is a solid support structure directly in the app.
